Tip # 1 – SPEED

In my 27+ years in the physician recruitment industry, I’ve never seen the recruitment environment so fiercely competitive. If your healthcare organization is not recruiting the number of physicians needed to grow and accomplish your strategic goals, it very well could be what I consistently experience around the country: delays. Delays in conducting phone interviews with potential candidates, delays in getting candidates in for interviews and delays in getting contracts out to candidates that have said, “I will accept an offer if presented.”

All too often, many people think of health care as reactive—something that we participate in only when we need to treat or fix a problem. One evening, I was cruising through downtown Boise on my favorite Harley, Boomer, and as always, I was flying a 3-by-5 foot U.S. flag on it. 

Yesterday, the VISTA Staffing Solutions licensing department received notices in the mail for three of our Colorado licensed physicians from a company representing itself as “Colorado Physician Certification Services” with a postmark from Florida and a return address in California.   These notices indicate that the physicians' professional certification renewal is due and they must submit $412.00 by March 15^th.  Upon investigation by Hannah Owen, VISTA Licensing Renewal Specialist, we learned that the Colorado Board of Medical Examiners did not issue these renewal notices.

Here’s the email copy that we received today from the Medical Board of California. We urge you to read this and take the necessary safety measures. 

The Board has been advised that several physicians in the Los Angeles area have been contacted by an individual impersonating an investigator with the Medical Board of California.  The individual asks physicians for their social security number and a credit card number, threatening cancellation of their license.
