The State of Utah is proud to announce the finalists for the 2006 Utah Work/Life Awards. For the eighth consecutive year, the State will recognize and honor companies that are creating exceptional workplaces and businesses by effectively addressing employee work/life needs. This year, the awards will be presented to companies in three categories based on size: Micro, Medium and Large businesses. Micro businesses are companies with fewer than 50 employees, Medium businesses have 50 to 500 employees, and large companies have more than 500 people working for them.
The Work/Life Awards honor employers that listen to employees and strive to create and maintain a culture of equity and opportunity in the workplace. The Award showcases best practices and promotes their implementation in the business community. As the applicant pool has grown over the years, so has the creativity and ingenuity of businesses and business leaders.
"The companies we have examined this year are truly the cream of the crop in Utah. By successfully incorporating their work/life efforts into their business strategies, they’re creating wonderful workplaces and high performing businesses with satisfied employees," said Lynette Rasmussen, Director of the Department of Workforce Services’ Office of Work & Family Life. "It’s great to see that these businesses are benefiting in terms of improved productivity, commitment, retention, recruitment and morale; along with declines in absenteeism, turnover, health care and training costs."
