VISTA Staffing Solutions, Inc., one of the largest temporary physician staffing firms in the US, announced today it has launched an international division. The new division initially will place doctors in temporary assignments in Australia and New Zealand.
"Flexible doctor staffing, or locum tenens, is standard practice in many countries outside of the US. We chose Australia and New Zealand for our first global expansion markets because the service is well received and because there is a serious doctor shortage in those countries," explains Mark S. Brouse, CEO and president of VISTA Staffing Solutions. The term locum tenens (Latin for "one holding a place") is used to describe physicians who choose to work in temporary assignments.
"There is a great deal of satisfaction and adventure that comes with locum tenens practice in general. International assignments make it all that more interesting," says Abby Grayzel, director of international staffing at VISTA. "Many US doctors are looking for the opportunity to live and practice medicine in a foreign country,"
VISTA Staffing will introduce its international division Oct. 13-17, at the 17th World Conference of Family Doctors/American Academy of Family Physicians 2004 Scientific Assembly, in Orlando, Florida. The meeting is co-sponsored by Wonca, a professional association that represents doctors from 75 countries, and the American Academy of Family Physicians, one of the largest medical organizations in the US.
During the meeting, VISTA Staffing will host Karen Argall, Recruiting Manager for the Rural Workforce Agency in Victoria, Australia. Doctors interested in international assignments are encouraged to stop by VISTA exhibit booth #1553 to meet Ms. Argall and Ms. Grayzel.
